FAQ's
CamiRocks holds a high standard when selecting diamonds for our custom pieces. We will never use a diamond that is smaller than 1.3mm (0.01 carat weight) in diamond size, ensuring that all our pieces are substantial in size (even the smaller ones). All individual diamonds bigger than 0.30 in carat weight will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). We only use GIA certified diamonds as they are the world's foremost authority on diamonds, colored gem stones and pearls. GIA is also the leading source of standards for jewelry and diamonds. You can read more on the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) at https://www.gia.edu/gia-about. CamiRocks does not use "lab grown" diamonds under any circumstances. Only ethically sourced earth mined diamonds are used and sold by CamiRocks.
CamiRocks lives by the ethos of Cami the owner - "I will never manufacture a piece that I myself would not be proud to wear". In saying that, the color, cut and clarity of the diamonds we use remain top quality with maximum value ensuring that diamonds remain affordable to the everyday woman. Color: CamiRocks selects diamond colors in the range of H, I and J. We will seldom go lower in color, as we believe that the range of H-J is where our customer's will receive maximum value. Colors H-J appear white in appearance, with no yellow tints visible to the naked eye. Clarity: CamiRocks uses diamond clarity grades VS1/2 – SI1. We will never use a diamond clarity lower than SI1 (for example SI2 or I1), as these clarities tend to have inclusions visible to the naked eye. Cut: CamiRocks selects diamonds with the cut grade of Excellent and Very Good. These are the two highest cute grades available when assessing diamond cuts and ensures that each and every diamond used has maximum brilliance (shine/sparkle)..

We recommend insuring your CamiRocks piece as soon as it arrives — fine jewellery containing certified diamonds can be a significant investment and is typically covered under a homeowner's or standalone jewellery insurance policy in South Africa.
What CamiRocks provides with every order:
- A detailed tax invoice showing the item description, materials, and purchase price — most South African insurers accept this as proof of purchase and an indication of replacement value.
- For diamonds above 0.30ct, a GIA certificate of authenticity is included with your order.
- We encourage you to photograph your piece thoroughly on arrival, including any hallmarks or engravings, and store those images securely (e.g. in cloud storage or emailed to yourself).
What your insurer may require:
Requirements differ between insurers, but South African policies commonly ask for one or more of the following: a recent independent jeweller's valuation certificate, the original purchase invoice, clear photographs of the item, and a description of where and how the piece is stored. Some policies also specify that high-value items must be individually listed (scheduled) rather than covered under a general household contents limit. We recommend contacting your insurer before purchase if you have a high-value piece in mind, so you know exactly what documentation they require.
A few things to confirm with your insurer before or after purchase:
- Is the piece covered for loss, theft, and accidental damage — or only some of these?
- Does the policy cover the item while travelling or outside your home?
- Are there any exclusions (e.g. general wear and tear, or damage while doing sport)?
- What is the claims process if a stone is lost or the piece is damaged?
- Will the insurer replace the item with an equivalent piece, or reimburse you in cash?
